GSM/CDMA VOIP Gateway |
|
Solution Overview In certain countries or regions, long distance calls (including international calls) using mobile network can be significant higher than fixed line or IP network. International calls through VOIP gateway is much less expensive than regular phone line. While IP-PBX is more and more common in enterprise environment today, WaveTramp's WPBX can work with any VOIP gateways to offer a mobile extension to existing PBX functions. Typical scenario in enterprise will be the traveling employees want to make a long distance call, s/he can call the mobile # configured on the WPBX, the WPBX then routes the call to VOIP Gateway, then the VOIP will route the call to the destination. On the opposite, the WPBX can analyze the mobile calls from VOIP gateway and decide to route the calls into the least cost channels, no matter it is GSM or CDMA network. In this case, both calls from IP network to mobile network or from mobile network to IP network can be routed into the least cost route. The same model can also work with calling card business by taking advantage of the free in-network rates. For example, an international student only has a cell phone, he want to call home often. However, the mobile phone rate can be expensive during normal business hour. In this case, the virtual carrier can install WPBX with a VOIP gateway, and organize the SIM cards by carriers. The student can call the phone # which belong to the same carrier as s/he has. The calls between the student and WPBX can be free, and s/he can still enjoy the super-low international calling rate via VOIP gateway. This will be very attractive selling points for the virtual carrier. Networking ![]() Case Study In USA, most of the wireless carriers offer free in-network calls. In Philippine, it works the same way. However, mobile calling rate can be expensive, specially during business hour (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) in both countries. International calling rate via mobile carriers can be very expensive comparing fixed line carrier or VOIP carriers.A small international trade (import/export) company based in USA has a small office in Philippine. Most of their employee in both countries spend a lot of time in the field (customer site), and employees from one country may need to call employee in other country during their customer visit. They installed WaveTramp's WPBX (WPBX 8012) along with WT-IPGate (WT-IPGate 2016) devices in the office in both countries. When employee from either country tries to call employee in other country, s/he will dial the mobile # configured on WPBX and will be prompted the destination # (can be configured as an extension), then the call will be routed into the VOIP terminal and then routed into the WPBX on the other side. In this case, it is almost free call between the two employee and they can talk as long as they want since both the employee<---->WPBX calls are in-network. This way, the communication cost between employees from two countries reduce dramatically. |
